WE DEFINITELY “CAUSED A STIR”

As we gathered in front of the “Efficiencies” section (another good “hang-out area”), arranging chairs and assembling ourselves for a business meeting, a white gentleman approached me and said, “I’ve been watching and there are good things going on out there (referring to the boardwalk/wall “hang-out area”. Then he asked, “How many generations do you have?” I proudly replied, “We can account for eight!” (That’s what I knew at the time. Little did I know that In a very short time we could claim TEN!) He said in amazement, “It’s so wonderful to have that many family members in one place, at one time.” Of course, I agreed with him. “It must have taken an incredible amount of research and time and hard work”, he said. “It certainly did”, said I.

And just then Ruby walked up. I introduced her as the Family Genealogist and left them to chat because I wanted her to receive all the accolades that I knew would be forthcoming from this gentleman and which she so richly deserved. It turned out that he was from Long Island (where my family and I live) and was very proud to be able just to shake the hand of the person who had done that much genealogical research. Ruby has been beaming ever since.
